Whoops

Whoops

A Poem by Donald Meikle

Shivering in shadows
Severed from the saving grace of truth
Darkness lingers clutching
In corners deep and dank
Luringly with half truths
In deeper holes of rank
Was it so bad to cast a slur
To pose a threat that wasn't there
To cause a group of hopeful players
to kneel and beg in soulful prayers
What harm could come from causing guilt
To herd them all like willing sheep
Believing heaven waits to tilt
And judge them for their souls to keep
Shivering in shadows
Or am I getting warmer?

In corners deep and dank
Luringly with half truths --------this made me think. The craft of your poetry comes in so many aspects. It makes so many allowances that reflected writing does not many times, and it permits to enter your expressing emotional retrospective view that otherwise might not find me.... in this way, it is materializing itself iwth my world, yes I can relate. thank you dear Donald friend. What about entering my contest Celebrating Life? The link is on my profile or in the bottom of my last messages. Be well.
