Jelly Session

Jelly Session

A Poem by Donald Meikle

Just yesterday I wrote a song
As usual I got it wrong
The strain of reaching every time
Complete and always with a rhyme
Took the thinking from my head
The only color left was red
Forgotten words like winter smoke
Turn all I feel into a joke
When what I really meant to say
Reveals itself to me today
My fingers pluck the same progression
Thoughts form words of sad regression
So just today I wrote a song
As usual I got it wrong

This is quite a good effort.. it flows and holds interest. You wrote it right!

Many singers no doubt will relate to what you have expressed.

hits a few bumps here and there, i like the meter and thought put forth, but the wording dragged in a few spots like..Turn all I feel into a joke -When what I really meant to say... if you could revise this with some more effort, it could be awsome, just a lil bland, but worth reading, thanks for sharing your talent.

You do not get the song wrong. I love this poem. As a singer I can definitely related to those days when the voice just isn't there for some reason and no matter what you do it's just off. Thankfully goodness that doesn't happen too often though.

Laughing, lovely last line! I can actually hear this as a song.. sort of folksy. Nice meter and a very 'different' theme from others

Thanks for sharing..
