Spendthrift

Spendthrift

A Poem by Donald Meikle

When I think about the times I've spent wishing'

I recognize some moments went missin'

But why should I care

When I know you weren't there

Those were the days I was fishin'

Alone but not lonely

Casting my line

Setting my hook

Spending my time

And just wishin'

The moments fell out of my wallet
