A Winters Night

A Winters Night

A Poem by Lisa Victoria
"

She lays hidden...from herself...from the world...though not from nature who cares for her on a cold winters night

"
A Winters Night

A quiet hush falls from the sky
'though gentle breezes pass her by
Kisses the trees with lips so cold
Caresses the ground with hands so old
She lays her blanket upon the ground
So white that not a soul is found
Her beauty fades not, for she glistens within
Her pale, yet beautiful, alabaster skin

She sends the wind to cool her face
Sends the moon for a soft embrace
Ascends to the heavens, shines the stars down below
for the fair young maiden hidden in the snow

Your use of imagery is breathtaking in this poem... I love your use of rhyme, you've use it really well and I get this sense of peace and quiet as I read the poem. I can almost feel like I'm part of the scene, that I'm part of the cold winter night. I especially loved your use of personification in,
"gentle breezes pass her by
Kisses the trees with lips so cold"
This is something really special about this poem.. something beautiful and I feel something stirring in my heart...

What a story you have told here. While it is a dark one, the beauty of the imagery drew me in. Psychological write...and a good one. Lydi**
