the ferryman is coming

the ferryman is coming

A Poem by Davidgeo
"

.

"
i am so very happy
here above
   not yet below

still it goes
though
 my wants
they will not matter
then
they still define me
now

until that when...
the ferryman is coming

for everyone of us
in time
eventually
he comes

the same for everyone

i do still know this
that even though
it means such very,
very different things
to each of us
in this moment
unto the next. . .
until the very end

we all still will live
we all still will die
we all will always wish for things
 with different voices

the same way

in a fear
always similar
always terrified

of the ferryman
who's coming

he who comes
 always
the same way
for everyone one of us
eventually
in the end

where we are the same

where it always ends
 eventually
the same way
for everyone of us

as the ferryman,
he always comes
for each of us

eventually

"and it's okay..."
     to end this way

I am not afraid of the ferryman, that is inevitable. I am fearful of his timing. I have unfinished work. I have an important job to do which I want the satisfaction of knowing is completed. This week I said my farewells to my friend Jen who I have known since I was 16. She was taken too early, but then so are many. Life is a gamble. We don't know how long we have, so we should live it well.
