we see crazy people together

pretending good friends are like coins
to be had

this is not what we think

so many years ago...

I have more understanding of this than you probably think. I know of two people who live their lives in this way. They have been friends for years. They are there for each other through thick, thin and trouble. And there is plenty of trouble. They certainly aren't particularly good for each other but the alternative would be loneliness and loneliness is deadly too. Your last line resonated and I am nodding my head in understanding. But anyway you like it, or find familiaraty in it, is something I am very pleased with.

On a completely unrelated and random note, how does England feel about the american Thanksgiving holiday?

Well I can only speak for myself because I don't think there are particularly strong feelings about Thanksgiving over here. I know it's a very important day in your calendar, what we call a bank holiday and I am happy fior you. A family and friends occasion, but that will be very hard on some. Happy Thanksgiving, might not be so happy for some. Same as how Christmas is over here. It can be lonely for many.

No one really cares about the essence of that holiday. It's just an excuse to eat heartily with extended family, watch football (American) and buy stupid gifts for christmas the next day. We have no history anymore... good or bad; we are nationally opportunistic. But we can't yet admit that yet en masse.

Here's hoping you get to share both your life and mind with that special one, they would probably need to be the polar opposite of you though, but have to be on the same intellectual level. My best mate keeps one behind the bar in his garden, calls her Shirley, has her dressed in his favourite football teams kit, West Ham United. I don't think he's ever knocked her, well, I'm hoping he hasnt.
