I’d do the latter of course. Curse, swear, fume and get back to trying over and over because there are a few precious things and people I know that I cannot give up on as giving up on them would be like giving up on myself. Sometimes they get obscured temporarily but they never go away. Your second comment to John strikes a deep chord in me.

Of course! There are some of them logged on 24X7 with a burning mission to prevail with their s**t on others. Multiple aliases, imaginative, fake profiles with all sorts of devious intentions. They give “creative” an all new meaning. Some crackpots even talk to themselves with their fake profiles. I lose my cool easily nowadays so I think it’s not worth it clashing with them. Why spoil a nice day.

Nice days are polluted by people like that (and to a certain degree people like me). But if we all just let that s**t happen the pollution inevitably escalates and seeps into to everything else. I may be toxic myself, but at least I'm honest about it, you know what you're getting and you know I don't destroy real things. The others pathologically eat away at everything and we rarely even truly know it until it's too late. The plagiarists, the psycho manipulators, the perverts and cancerous egotists - it's a mistake to ignore them... like termites on a wooden bridge.

I think that true strength has more to do with mental toughness than anything physical. What makes the human spirit what it is today lies in our mind. It is why we are what we are as a species today and not just some animals lunch a hundred thousand years ago. Nothing can crush us, despite all of our tangible shortcomings... we all have the capability to find a way in spite of almost anything.

The situation referred to in the poem could be many things, but I get the feeling we are witnessing a relationship that has become rocky. The reason for the difficulty may be one partner's abuse of drugs/alcohol. The speaker is asking someone to "quit this time," which may refer to something entirely different. The last lines, however, if taken as sarcasm, may reflect frustration to the point of being ready to give up on the effort to improve. Hard to say, but whatever, these people don't seem happy.

The "drink and drug" interpretation is not what I was getting at. But this certainly can mean that if you'd like; it can mean anything you choose to project. That's why is was written in that way.

But I have to mention because of your last lines... this writing was not meant for "unhappiness", quite the opposite. Unless you're inherently a quitter in the face of difficulty/defeat/general adversity. I'm no clinical psychologist but, I think you might need to reevaluate how you look at life if you took it that way.

None the less, I always appreciate your interpretations. You're not a foolish person.
