The Darkness The Light

The Darkness The Light

A Poem by Davidgeo
"

.

"
the sun to the moon
to the moon to the sun
where i am must be where you are not
where you are must be where i am not
the darkness
the light
the difference
forms meaning
i want to see you from afar from the other side
up close to the sun but afar from the moon
i will see you from here
when up close to the moon but afar from the sun
i will see you from there
from the sun to the moon
to the moon to the sun
i will see you from anywhere
as the day can see the night
as the night can see the day
never to be one
but always in sight
never to be together
but always in sight
always
and never
     as one
as the dark makes the light
so the light makes the dark
apart but together

Light and dark do not merge yet they need each other to be defined. In a way they lose relevance without each other. Some things don’t make sense when one thinks about them. Some people are like that too. Don’t know why they’re there but they are. They complete us in ways we don’t understand. I’m tired so this is the closest I can put my thoughts into words. I really like this poem very much. It’s unusual, beautiful in its reassurance.

Thanks. But I don't think I'm long for this place.
The sun in all its glory in daylight and the moon in the darkness of night. You provide stark contrasts of imagery in your lines. The sun and moon constants in our lives, we need them both. All good wishes David from across the pond.

And the same to you David. Thank you.
Nice write David it seems to me that black and white are both part of life. We must all learn to live with it. I enjoyed the read, my friend....peter

I'm glad you enjoyed. Thank you for the review.
The poet here seems to be making an observation on duality. In the physical universe, all is seen as separate forms: a is a, b is b. The contrast between different forms constitutes the reality we see. We know night from day because we perceive them differently. This situation orients us but makes us sad simultaneously, for there seems to be a desire for oneness. That is our predicament currently. Perhaps evolution is gradually changing things.
