Liars

and their lying lies

oh you can lie to me now

but never forever

 

do you lie to yourself?

lets see how long you can last

 

as you know this is true

     what drives you to lie 

its weight will crush you

 

maybe not now

you will come for yourself

you will demand a real answer

  always eventually,

  there will be nowhere to hide in the lie

you know this is true

that we should not hide from the truth

we should show it our lies

  see for ourselves what lies beneath

You might be able to deceive others, but you can’t deceive yourself. You can’t lie to yourself because it festers and a little lie can turn into a mountain. I couldn’t carry all that guilt. It would weigh too heavy. You can’t hide from yourself even if you make a decision to hide from everyone else. Well, that’s where I went with these lines.

Perhaps the lies we tell ourselves are the most difficult to see because they are so close to us. But as you indicate, sooner or later they will out.

Everyone has to lie to themselves a little bit, I think our shared reality depends on it. Some get a little too carried away with the sport of deception of course. None the less, I do wonder what lies beneath our shared reality. What would a modern human think about completely removed from our shared reality? Would that human be a kind space baby or an immoral destroyer of worlds? Thommy Hobbes vs Johnny J Rousseau types of arguments... and the movie 2001, however you want to take the space fetus thing, I think it's suposed to be an evoltuion of how the aliens talk to other life... a space fetus with insight instead of just a monolith inspiring tool design. Jesus without the bible so to speak... morality at a tool for social evolution instead of judgement.
