Before You Were Here

Before You Were Here

A Poem by little-known

When you were here
I'd watch you sleep
While carving your
face on clay
Trying to capture
your perfection
As my heart
fluttered faster
with affection

Watching your breath
release
Never accepting
bitter defeat
That's when you were
here
You were here

Now your gone
I sleep in late
Time means nothing
Repetitive days can
wait
The sun can stay
sleeping
As the moon is my
friend
Silence the birds
Let the anguish
reign

My heart stopped
beating
Starved and just
living
Seeking happiness
from something
But life it means
nothing
Now that your gone
Your gone

When you were here
The world was our
playground
Laughter surrounded
Love reigned then
When you were here
You were here

Now that your gone
I have to shake off
the cobwebs
Welcome the sun
Stand in its warmth
Block sweet memories
Keep them in tight
Now that your gone
Your gone
