Be Well

Be Well

A Poem by littlewonders

My sweet dear, are you sure you are ready?
Remember that you are not alone.
The world out there is different
As much as you can appreciate it and understand it and grow in it in one day
you can find yourself destroyed
There are things you can never be certain of
Be prepared for it
You will open yourself
and that is a wonderful step
but as wonderful as that may be
You will be pushed, broken in and out, and feel what you must now remember to be false
You will understand things
Wonderful things that take you to unfathomable places
And understand pains that are hard to harbor
Once you stand out that door,
Ready or Not my dear
The world will change you my sweet
And in truth.. the world will be what you will not want it to be
and what you need
I know its selfish of me to ask you this
You, your eyes my dear, tell me you believe in this place, the people, you trust them
but..if you can…if the world would have it… my dear, please come back to me with that light,
I hope you can save that light because its the answer to a question I have some struggle with keeping.
And i hope for your sake it is truer than anything
I hope you will be well my sweet, sweet dear.

The emotions that sip out of this poem, is strong and contagious and that makes it such a powerful poem. Good job.

I got the sense of dearly beloved offspring reaching that time when they flee the nest - going to find their way in the world and the guardian/parent wishing that the world will not change them beyond their essence - hoping that their light will be the same and yet - even as they cross the home's threshold , knowing that it is impossible to keep their light the same as it is - they will come back a different person.
I loved this - I loved the warmth and protective words and sentiments and I loved how beautifully emotional it made me feel.
Thanks for sharing.
