The Last Dance

The Last Dance

A Poem by lividavi

Your eyes, they dance to the tune of a song
That I should have been dancing to all along.
But I'm swaying on to a tune of my own.
We're off-key, out of step and in the wrong tone.

You turn up the volume and pull me in tight,
But our beats are jarring; it doesn't sound right.
You can stretch out your chords and change all the notes,
But I think it's best if we shrug on our coats.

The dance was once lively: we twirled on our feet,
But I have spun off course and found a new beat.
Keep moving, my darling, your song has a charm,
Dance through the night with a new girl on your arm.
