Poems 2 and 3

Poems 2 and 3

A Poem by Laura Lynn Close

I am the husband

I want to buy you a house,

Not just any house, a glorious mansion,

To fit a lord, or a joker

rather if you say so.

What is the difference between a clown

and a clone? Or how are they alike?

The one has a puffy red nose,

The other made of metal.

Is it any surprise that there are more

chickens than people in the world?

Me puedo quedar un rato?

The ceiling was so old it would fall on them,

Piece by piece.  Chicken Little thought it was

the sky, and the Little red hen said, “let it.”

Jewelry only made us happy to look at once

We had it, and only if it could be stolen after.
It was a secret love affair, and one had to have

Some training in it I have imagined sometimes.

Beside your house is a meadow, a thick oasis,

Of oats and wheat fronds,

        maybe I am the wind.
