A Poem by Kelly

I wake up to a rain filled sky
To see drops of rain fall like tears
of the lovers who's hearts had been broken.
Thunder crashing down as if it were
a toddler throwing a tantrum.

I roll over where you no longer lay
to find myself alone and in pain.
Thoughts of you fill my head
why did you have to leave me
the way you did.

I can no longer hear your footsteps
nor your voice echoing in my head.
Once I thought I heard you laugh
but instead it was only my imagination
wishing you were here.

The songs of the sparrow carry a sad song
through the wicked breeze of the storm.
I heard it once before,
when we were young and in love.
It's the song of two hearts becoming one.

Now those days have become history
and you and I were given a second chance.
A new beginning we must try.
The chance we took became our last
for you could wait no longer.

I wake up to a rain filled sky
to see drops of rain shatter to the ground
like the dreams we once had.
Someday, someday that will be us again
giving hope and faith a second chance.

Like the rain pouring down outside
we never know when it will stop or start.
The love we have for one another
will be our constant guide
back to each others hearts.

A great reverie poetically put.
One suggestion, you seem to repeat the word 'rain'..if not intentional, i would recommend using an alternate word OR a meteophor for rain instead.

good job otherwise.

A sweet and unique representation of the heart's way back home. Sad but cozy at the same time and filled with determination, reflection, and hope. Nice.
