Apollo

Apollo

A Poem by TK Wayne
"

I wrote this poem with a particular friend in mind (a friend who sister-zoned me, might I add), but that's all I'm going to say. Enjoy :)

"

Wandering alone on a snowy night,
Where all is still, grey and quiet.
The stars above me twinkle gently,
But cannot show me my path.
I am lost and lonely and hopeless.

But then comes the brilliant gold,
And the world around me awakens!
The birds sing, and sweet music plays!
Looking up, I see you in your chariot,
Strumming radiantly on your golden lyre.

The sun follows close behind you,
Driving away the menacing shadows.
And the path before me lights up:
A stairway in the sky, leading me to you?

I take a tentative step forward,
Fearing you might ride away.
Your sweet melody enchants me,
And I take another step.
But the distance between us keeps growing.

You do not see this charmed mortal
While in pursuit of your beloved nymph.
The light and warmth fade away,
And the shadows surround me again.
The melody stops as you leave me behind.

I guess you're not my sun,
That you were never my sun,
But just another star in the sky.
And here I am, alone again,
Lost in the darkness of this winter's night.
