The Ephemeral Moment
The cool menthol air filled my lungs as I sat and thought of you No amount of smoke could burn as much as your ignorance, Your emotional negligence, your cold demeanor towards me. As I sat there taking each puff, I thought of how each puff gave me that sense of high And numbness that I wanted from you The bliss that lasted for only awhile. Just like you, Who walked so deep into my heart, with large strides you took, Only kept leaving footprints of unimaginable pain and lust Scattered everywhere as you tried to find a temporary home within me. And just like that, I found homage in each gush of minty-menthol air To replace the urge for your lips, your wild eyes, your soft touches, Your witiful humour, your quarter-worth compliments. Every hint of you is overcome by my newfound love and drug. Every memory is hazy with the light kisses of my new addiction. As my lips part from this new pair, I exhale every last stale air from my lungs and crush the bud down. And in that floomy state of mind, I feel sought after and at ease Only to have you creeping back into my mind, After minutes worth of distraction.
