My Girl

My Girl

A Poem by look.both.ways

I have sewn my mouth shut,

Afraid of hurting her again.

I tried to do good,

But all that came was sin.

I’ve lost all ever loved.

My world is caving in.

And like the break of dawn,

My girl is gone.

Because of my anger,

I couldn’t save her.

Because of my shame,

All she can do is blame.

Because of what I didn’t do,

She’s found someone new.

Though she feels abjection,

To me she is still perfection.

I’ve never loved someone more,

It is only my girl that I adore.

But one stupid mistake,

Caused both our hearts to break.

All I can see is the ocean,

My ribs have been torn open.

My heart stolen from my chest,

At that, my girl is best.

She can take my breath away,

With just the words she’ll say.

I know that she loves me,

But still she won’t stay.

And like the break of dawn,

My girl is gone.
