Still

Still

A Poem by look.both.ways

My fingertips follow your traces on my skin.
The burns from the last time I saw you still ache when I touch them.
I put my hand on my chest and it's empty.
A hollow hole where I keep my love for you.
Your voice pierces my ears at its lowest tone.
Three years later and I still open my eyes fearing the touch I feel is you.
I put my hand on my stomach.
Still vacant of the life you beat from me.

Interesting piece, seems like this piece is about the aftermath of an abusive relationship and the aftermath of a miscarriage due to the abusive relationship ("I put my hand on my stomach. Still vacant of the life you beat from me"). I love all of these lines, so poetic and sad. Really great work! :)
