Ineffable Fire

Ineffable Fire

A Poem by Victor

That life be but the tragedy of men

And death her final scene,

In which our lonely subject raises

An ineffectual malediction--

In defiance of death--

Whose savagely magniloquent loquacity

Would seem to challenge fatal fate

With poets' lexical fire,

So tragedy be counterfeit enactment,

Duplicitous and keen,

The actors move our minds in mazes

To obfuscate the potent benediction--

That defies death--

Which I should behold had my soul the full audacity

To hold your gaze and passions sate

With love's ineffable fire.
