Realization of Dysfunction

I just wrote this last night. Haven't wrote in a while but this is how I feel about my depression and mental health in the united states

It becomes a sad truth 

When you cannot be yourself

For fear of persecution

By the eyes and words of others

It becomes quite daunting 

To feel open and vulnerable 

Only to lose yourself in the vastness

By the hurried crowd of those trying to fit in

It becomes a harsh realization 

When you look for answers among the confused

And hope the missing pieces are found

Beneath the rubble of dishonesty

It becomes a sad truth

When you cannot speak

Because the ignorance and silence lingers

From those who are weak

It becomes quite liberating 

To break free from the fear

And to acknowledge time wasted

Looking for others to do what you had power to do all along

Some very powerful and telling words. I like the whole realization that we really don't want the truth sometimes. Sometimes we want whatever it is that makes us feel whole....
