New Years Resolution

New Years Resolution

A Poem by luciddreamer

How can one have children, yet miss the mirror upon ones face?

I do not believe it is unknown, I think it is unthought.

How can one do the same thing over and over and over the exact same way

knowing it brings forth pain?  I do not believe it is accidental, I believe it is intentional....

driven

I looked the other way so many years, got pulled into the game that I could never win

Chasing perfection that never existed, living in a hell I created from ignorance....

 laziness

At first I was " if I had only known," but this was only an excuse, at least to the victim,

one that leads to a doing the same thing again....

I am only human, the murderer does say

I'm no longer choosing sides,

let the games begin, I so enjoy a good show

A pact of lies, feelings being flung around like rag dolls,

lifes being torn apart by beliefs, nationalities, and the rainbow colors

I will watch from my porch

and I will pray

that my hands I can lay, (as we all can)

upon the ones who are wounded

I will no longer participate

in the tearing apart of us............

It is intentional, and we are driven.
Our confusion is of our ignorance.
'if I had only known' and ' I am only human', are excuses that somehow are deemed acceptable.
Contemplate this poem, and see the corpse that is the result of these types of rationalizations.

Stinks, huh?

Once aware, as this poet is,
One cannot participate without compromising parts of our being that..well, can no longer be compromised.
It is difficult to argue with reason.

I am reminded of the old saying;
The devil is not interested in your soul, he just wants to wear your skin.
