Goals

Goals

A Poem by luciddreamer

I'm learning to be thankful for the loss of my hearing

For now I must strain to hear, hence my attention does now not wander

I am starting to see through these damaged eyes

a new path opening before me

The perfection that mankind seeks is an illusion of the soul

The more we interact with machine the more machine we will become

We are but a drop in a vast ocean,

we magnificintly are spread far and wide

And the power we think only the strong and lucky have

in ourselves truly do reside

But we keep making the same mistake over and over again

in the name of humanity we keep killing our fellow man

I wonder this, I wonder deep, I wonder enough to do

what if I had no concern of what happened to your nation or religion

what if I didn't see what was right before my eyes being crammed into my brain like I'm being forcefed

what if I choose to live in a world that I could disguise with some humor and yet tell the truth

Wouldn't I then be able to see where I could help the most, which in reality wouldn't it be

everyone, no matter how evil or good, we all have the same potential

Wouldn't I then be able to share all that I have learned

by example, not by perfection but by trial and error with lessons learned, paths changed

I'm tired of being pulled by the nose in every direction,

if you look hard enough you will realize they all come back to one string

I am in need of rest, my actions speak louder than my thoughts

which in the end, the essence of myself, I have always believed,  was to do no harm......

Remember always that you are just a visitor here, a traveler passing through. your stay is
but short and the moment of your departure unknown.
None can live without toil and a craft that provides your needs is a blessing indeed.
But if you toil without rest, fatigue and wearness will overtake you, and you will denied
the joy that comes from labour's end.
Speak quietly and kindly and be not forward with either opinions or advice. If you talk much,
this will make you deaf to what others say, and you should know that there are few so wise
that they cannot learn from others.
Be near when help is needed, but far when praise and thanks are being offered.
Take small account of might, wealth and fame, for they soon pass and are forgotten. Instead,
nurture love within you and and strive to be a friend to all. Truly, compassion is a balm
for many wounds.
Treasure silence when you find it, and while being mindful of your duties, set time aside,
to be alone with yourself.
Cast off pretense and self-deception and see yourself as you really are.
Despite all appearances, no one is really evil. They are led astray by ignorance. If you
ponder this truth always you will offer more light, rather then blame and condemnation.
You, no less than all beings have Buddha Nature within. Your essential Mind is pure.
Therefore, when defilements cause you to stumble and fall, let not remose nor dark
foreboding cast you down. Be of good cheer and with this understanding, summon strength
and walk on.
Faith is like a lamp and wisdom makes the flame burn bright. Carry this lamp always and
in good time the darkness will yield and you will abide in the Light.

powerfully expressed view points - wonderfully written!! so many points raised that I too have pondered - I love the "the more we interact with machines the more machine we become" idea - it is true - as we adorn armour and weapons we automate ourselves almost - deadening emotions in the process!! no time for emotive vigilance in this world of turmoil!! brilliant!!

Beautifully written, wonderfully expressed a world in turmoil gives us so little rest.

I'm no traveller, I'm here to stay :O)

wisdom drops in tears across a world~ I don't think I will ever comprehend the human capacity to harm~ how it is ever so apt at turning off the conscience and shattering the moral compass~

I know, and unfortunately, We can only have that when the "I" no longer is of any importance.
Speaking of course, from a collective point of view.

I believe that humans get it, but chose not to live the life of HEB (Higher Evolved Being). The wisdom you share is more like a HEB than anything else. Most and close to all people are too much into consumption to allow their spirit to rule their minds. If people lived as HEB then our corporations would fall, the rich would become as everyone else and our world would over populate even more than it is. We are a society that is driven by technology and consumption of natural resources namely oil. Oil allowed our population to increase from 1 billion to over 6 billion and without oil our society will collapse and we will return to the darker ages in our history. Thus about 5 billion people would have to die in order for the earth to sustain life once again. Oil is why we turn away from spirit it is truly the root of technology and the root of all evil. We will reach the level that you are thinking at the day we use the last drop of oil on this planet. Until then man will turn a blind eye to Gods true purpose for us and we will continue to consume, to kill and to expand beyond our earthly means.

Killing in the name of humanity....my thoughts are this. WWII was one case where that was true but you are completely right. If we treated others like we wanted to be treated many of the big issues would be resolved but we are human and imperfect. Our biggest beliefs that cause wars and arguments are protecting our countries and religion. This is a deep poem filled with many thoughts that have made me think this morning.
