A Day of Sorrow

A Day of Sorrow

A Poem by Brittney Solomon
"

10 years

"

Cowered in a corner alone

A little girl carries a burden

In this world she is all alone

To face this eternal torment

It all her fault she thinks

So her voice it stays silent

Daddy he really does love me

He just has an odd way of showing it

Maybe if I tell him to stop

Then that will be the end of it

Maybe if he understands the hurt

Then never again will he try it

Daddy no please don’t touch me there

Daddy no-no that’s mine and I don’t wanna share

Daddy go away please leave me be

Daddy please stop your hurting me

But feeble and submissive her will is not enough

He already taken a gift and that is far too much

A gift that no one can give back or try to replace

Her innocence is now left deep his hidden place

In the same bag he placed her bloody underwear

In that same place where he took her trust and care

So in the corner she cowers alone in fear

Regretting the days when daddy visits again

The dark filled days and lonely nights

Tormented dreams where still she fights

Alone is this world or that as it seems

A little girl cries as she bleeds
