Candy in a Pocket

Candy in a Pocket

A Poem by maggie42

Baby-hood is sunflowers, water-painted,
because Daddys love yellow.
Big Eyes never stop staring,
when they know you miss your father.

Baby-hood is candy in a pocket.
Big teeth have a soft voice,
when they kiss your cheek gently,
and beg you to stop crying.

Baby-hood is a rocking chair,
and you feel the to, and fro.
Big hands fit in the smallest places,
when the wolf slobbers over your baby-hood.

Excellent write. To create something so powerful yet in so many words is a gift I pray for daily. This piece I found purity in the lines Big Eyes never stop staring, when they know you miss your father. As if you are translating something that was told to you or that u witness. This helped bring me as a reader into the experience. Thanks excellent write again. I will be back.

This was somewhat haunting for me too.
It made me think of the creepers in my life, and
brought a sick feeling of fear for my child.
Thought provoking...
Excellent wording, and rhythmic flow.

Very touching poem. I have a baby sister in the house right now, and I can tell that you see little kids not only through a mother's eyes but through a loving siblings.
A joy to read. Thank you.

Babyhood leaves a dark smear on innocence; your gentle voice adds greatly to the vulnerability and underplays the twisted confusion and manipulation of needs. A very carefully crafted poignant work!

"Big Eyes never stop staring,
when they know you miss your father."

Excellent
