Scented Candles and Pretty Flowers

Only you It was always you

 

Into the night ill take you away.

Into the night ill give you a kiss.

And buy you flowers and some candles.

For you to decorate

 

The little cottage

Or the ancient castle

Or the dirty shack on 5th Ave.

That may or may not be our home

 

In that home we will reside.

With a children or two

Maybe three

And if you want four or five.

 

Ill take you away

Every evening

Into the dark

When our kids are asleep.

And give the flowers and candles

Again and again

For you to decorate

 

The little cottage

Or the ancient castle

Or dirty shack on 5th Ave.

 

It wont matter where we are

As long as Im with you

And you’re with me

Emotionally or physically

It won’t matter

As long as there’s a brown roof

or ancient tiles,

or red bricks

over our heads

 

If I smile,

I want to smile with you.

For when I walk.

I want to walk with you.

Weather we live in a

Cottage

Or a castle

Or a shack.

Ill be with you

Always with you

Only you

Great poem. Theirs aomething in it that really makes it sort of an emotional piece. The language is simple yet there's a character to it that's appealing. Not sure how to explain it but this is really good work. I like the use of enjambment as well. Great job.
