Low Tide

Low Tide

A Poem by Courey
"

Written a few years ago.

"
I couldn't give this up if I tried.
This is me;
A painful sense of familiarity.
The tides have changed and still
I sit comfortable, alone,
Amidst wet rocks and seaweed.
Tethered and anchored,
It doesn't even matter.
I make the choice to stay.
Because I know
As sure as the sun rises,
Our tide will come back in
One day.

I like the wisdom in your words. I love the ocean. I have spend complete days and nights with friends at the ocean. It is a place of peace and safety if you can find a spot away from the city. I like the ending. The ocean clock is always on time. Few things have a guarantee like the great sea. A excellent poem. Thank you.

i like the casual tone. also lowtide is obvious as a title and a metaphor but the poem goes about its work such that i looked up (again, at the title) and it had new meaning.

speaking of meaning: if this were my poem i would change much and little of this.

tethered or anchored it doesn't seem to matter which.

if you are wondering what else i might change, take a look at 'as sure as the sun rises'

little things will tighten this up.

Welcome Courey
This short piece has much of what is good in a poem.
A person, a feeling, nature, and its effect..and a good ending.
I enjoyed reading it.
