deja vu

WORDS

I thought that all of the hurt had gone,
That the sting of his words had left -
But after so many years
Of fighting back tears
It all came rushing back in a flash.

To forgive him was easy -
His apologies were sincere.
But for me to forget?
I'm not able to yet....
Even though, God knows, I have tried.

I know you're not him - not even close,
But the sting of your words hurt just the same.
You caught me off guard
And it hit me so hard.....
Only time, and your love, can ease my pain.
