THE NON-BELIEVERS IS A STORY ABOUT A BABY DUCKLING BORN JUST BEFORE MIGRATION...ONLY HE HAS YET TO LEARN TO FLY.

THE NON-BELIEVERS

It was nearing the end of fall and rolling right into winter. A new baby duckling has just hatched

its egg. He was determined to learn how to fly so that he could migrate with his family due to the

change in climate. Every morning everyday that baby duckling would get up extra early and practice

learning how to fly. Even though all of the other animals didn’t believe it could be done. The other

animals think it would be physically impossible for the baby duckling to fly because of the size of the

duckling. That duckling just let what those non-believers thought go in one ear and right out the other.

That duckling knew that if he tried hard enough it could be done no matter what others thought. He

knew that he was special and he was no ordinary duckling. He knew that he was a conqueror and not

a sufferer and as long as he believed and he had a dream he would succeed. On one particular morning

it was the last day of fall and time was dwindling for that baby duckling to learn to fly. This was his

last opportunity to learn to fly or else he was going to freeze to death or someone will turn him into

duck soup. A bear saw him trying to fly and decided to walk over.

Bear- What are doing baby duckling?

Baby duckling- I’m trying to learn how to fly so that I could migrate with my family.

Bear- Ha Ha Ha. Learn to fly. Don’t make me laugh. You are too young to learn how to fly. You

will never learn before tomorrow. You’re doomed.

Baby duckling- No I’m not doomed and I will learn how to fly. I will be a conqueror and not a suffer-

er.

Bear- Whatever. You might as well just hang it up you will never make it. Face it you’re doomed.

I have to go into hibernation now. Rest in peace baby duckling.

That baby duckling didn’t let those mean thoughts from bear discourage him. Bears thoughts went

into one ear and right out of the other. Baby duckling knew that he could do it. He believed in the old

saying practice makes perfect. Meow Meow Meow. The cat was outside playing with a ball of yarn

when he heard a noise and decided to go and check it out.

Cat- Oh it’s just you. What are you doing baby duckling?

Baby duckling- I have to learn to fly before the day is over.

Cat- You can’t fly. You’re not ready.

Baby duckling- I don’t know how to fly now, but I will know how to fly before this day is over.

Cat- We’ll see. Learn how to fly, “the cat said sarcastically as he ran away.”

By that time the baby duckling could have just given up by constantly hearing you can’t do it or it will

never be done, you won’t succeed, but he didn’t he just kept on practicing and practicing. He was

determined to fly. Whooo! Whooo! Whooo! The owl was sitting in the tree bored watching that baby

duckling practice it’s flying tactics and fly down and visit.

Owl- What are you doing baby duckling?

Baby duckling- I’m trying to learn how to fly.

Owl- But you’re too young to fly.

Baby duckling- Who says I’m too young owl? Non-believers. Who says it can’t be done owl? Non-

believers.

Owl- I’m just saying baby duckling most ducks don’t learn how to fly until they are several months

old and in your case you are only a few weeks old and you don’t stand a chance. Well I have to go

baby duckling. Good luck.

After several hours of practice the baby duckling knew that he was making progress because every

time he made an attempt to fly he would get higher and higher. He just needed to learn how to get up

and stay up in the air. He began to get tired and exhausted from all of the time and effort he had been

putting into his flying practice. Then he began to get a little discouraged.

Baby duckling- Maybe they were right. Maybe I am too young to fly. I don’t have enough time to

learn how to fly.

Then the baby duckling thought about what was coming out of his mouth and revised what he was

saying.

Baby duckling- What am I saying? I’m falling into the negative thoughts of what the others thought,

but I know that I can do it as long as I believe and have faith. I shouldn’t let the words and the

thoughts of others discourage me. This is it I’m learning how to fly once and for all.

The baby duckling went for it. He made a run for it and started flapping his wings. He had accomplished all that he had been working toward accomplishing. He’s successful at last. The baby duckling knew that he could do it and he did just that.

THE END
