Someday Daughter: Read this first

Dear My Someday Daughter,

Dream big, you can do anything.

Twirl in your pink dress

Never worry of whose heart is beating nearby

Don’t be oblivious to the world

Take note of what passes you by

Nonsense will run in one ear and out the other

Don’t ignore it

For this nonsense is unique, to you

No one else thinks the way you do

You’re original

Numerous thoughts and ideas will dangle by threads of lace in your mind which holds ounces of innocence

But be careful, for this thread is so thin,

It will tear when you begin to lose yourself

And I say,

Have no limits

No limits on your beautiful thoughts, ideas, wonders or dreams

Erase your negative thoughts and fill it by pouring gold in the holes they have left

Gaze at the stars

Look through your scattered thoughts

And remember what I am telling you

Cherish the way the clouds transform into various shapes before your eyes

Because someday it will be people changing before your eyes

Not just the floating spectacles above

 And, all of this,

 May be drivel

But believe that if you dream big enough,

It will come true

And yet,

This is what every parent whispers to their child

I can only hope that this will preserve your childhood

Yet how selfish of me

How selfish of me to allow you, my lovely, to become so vulnerable

You’ll grow up without fear

You’ll grow up with the assumption that new things,

Can’t knock you over

So, what about when you fall?

How will I protect you now?

I permitted you to having this happen

In fact, I aided in this fall

This,

this will break my heart.

Into a great big puzzle of pieces that will float in space

Which I will never be able to grab

And that, I can never forgive myself for

These experiences, and falls, and hardships

Will make you stronger, wiser, and more mature.

But then again,

What happened to preserving that childhood?

Didn’t work out so well.

There’s no way to prevent you from growing up.

This is why,

I tell you, yes

Dream big

Imagine beyond your heart can take

Do this all when you’re still naïve

And let the wind grasp your laces and sweep you off your feet,

Taking you to a new world for you to wander and explore;

But don’t leave without giving mom a kiss

Baby,

There will be days when your heart will be torn out of your chest

but don’t you ever dare to forget,

That I will always,

Always.

Be here to relate to how heartbroken you may be.

And Sweetie, the stars won't always be in the night sky to sparkle for you,

But know that there are just clouds blocking them

It's just a bad,

not a bad life.

And on your days of down

When hate is bombarding you

Be strong and fight back

But don’t get rough

Just because this world is a rough place

Don’t stoop down to this level of rudeness and hate that will be given and forced upon you over and over again

Be ready to be tongue tied at times and to make mistakes

But know that you aren't your mistakes.

Your mistakes don't define you.

Know that dealing with these difficulties and these cruel people is the only way to remind your self

How much you value the good people in your life

Because you know what?

Dreams do come true,

But don’t forget,

Nightmares are dreams, too.

Love,

Your Someday Mother
