Sifting

Sifting

A Poem by E.G.

I've been sifting through old parts of me
Trying to decrease the excess past
It's all memories and magazines
Small clothes from a small me

I've seen myself in Modern art and
Cubist thought and
Jesus's parts strung out on a cross
But did not mutter "it was good"

littered glitterings on mazed walls
Complacent women under eating eyes
I struggled for some kind of pause
And Vague shaped meaning stumbled from the paint

I understand...
This is life on display for more life to see
But all meaning means nothing
and I am completely lost
