Reflections On Things Past

Reflections On Things Past

A Poem by justa335
"

... how and what we choose to remember and forget... (image c/o http://www.yorkshirewalks.org/)

"

I wonder which one brings more pain,

The end of summer or the start of rain,

The loss of youth or the quiet tears

That signal only the passing years;

Remembered faces but forgotten names,

A heart grown cold or the burnt out flame

Of passion spent and broken dreams

In a heap of ashes and the endless stream

Of a melody that never fades,

Remnants of a love that overstayed

The warmth of arms and the heat of lips,

The pieces now lying, torn and ripped.

And which truth should I keep in memory….

Did I let you go….or did you leave me?

We are all different in how we see, remember, or feel, and also I find what makes me angry or hurt has changed over the years. And perhaps there are times when we remember the past different to what it actually was, maybe because it's easier to cope with. Food for thought Justa! :o)
