A Poem by Marian Elizabeth

I have never loved a thing

But the idea of it,

From a walk through autumn forests

To velvet’s creamy caress.

It is a business of uncertainty,

Of daring imagination,

Of the bridge that ties together

The mind’s image and the fact.

Experience will disappoint

When urges turn into memories,

When the lifespan of a smoke ring

Represents your daily life.

You have a very unique style - like you're on a different plain of life & experience or something. You weave words together exceptionally. Love the ending, "When the lifespan of a smoke ring
Represents your daily life. "

Thank you Pete! I am glad you enjoyed it
This reads very wonderfully to me, from top to bottom.
For me, you started this off perfectly with your initial two lines:
"I have never loved a thing
But the idea of it"

Beautiful. Great writing here, Marian. :)
