through snowy mountain passes

through snowy mountain passes

A Poem by Mark C. Jackson
"

a poetic perspective . . .

"

beaded bags

handsewn goatskin

and sinew

hide beneath

wisps of gray beard,

shiny cut stone and AK47 shells

rest inside

wind torn prayer flags

shudder

wrap and twist with every color of the sun

brushed aside

to move mule and cargo

through piercing blue skies

down into the valleys

leaving footprints in the snow

so it is today

as it was 1000 years ago
