The Chase

The Chase

A Poem by marlah21

She walks,

chasing the setting sun.

The crickets sing,

and cars speed by.

She jogs,

reaching for the horizon.

It never comes closer,

no matter how fast she goes.

She runs,

screaming for the sun to stop.

Tears slide down her cheeks,

and her body starts to give out.

She collapses.

The last rays of light disappear.
