Flowergirl

Flowergirl

A Poem by marlayesterday

Out of this dust and out of these ashes emerge a flower.
Not knowing she was vivid being, immersed in dirt and darkness.
Her heart beat and beat as she grew, a small blade peaking out of the earth.
She reached, pressed on to the light once she could see it.
Day by day, she basked in it's glorious warmth, leaves sprouting.
She learned to dance, sing and praise.
The life in her pulsed and flowed through her veins, as shimmering energy and life poured throughout her.
Petal after colorful petal appeared as she matured, a most handsome flower.
Others around her admire her magnificent beauty,
As she came to know the base, disgusting mire from which she grew was the very thing that made her lovely.
Thankful evermore she is for the damp filth.
Only because she knows she no longer had to remain there, hidden in that cold emptiness.
