Thunderstorm

Thunderstorm

A Poem by Monty.

Meant to scare, to keep you from running outside
But there’s always someone who’s going to run
Who will look to the sky and wonder
If the lighting ever fell in love with the roaring thunder…

Running far down the street, pavement slick & wet
Hidden within the blackness of nighttime
Nothing but the echoing sound of rain pattering against rooftops
With the bright clash of lightening
Running and sliding and falling

Take my hand and skip this town
Runaway with me far away
Where the sky lights up and roars

Where the clouds lay waiting & the black hugs the sky
Somewhere over a fence and down a sand bank
Waves furious and pounding against the shore

Stand with me
Within a circle
That will never fade
That will still exist even when the rain stops
When the clouds break apart
After the thunder quiets
As the bursts of lightening fade

Stand with me
& watch the waves cease
Their deafening crashing

Everything slowly calming
Moonlight drifting through the breaking clouds
Stars glittering above like winking eyes
Your hand sliding into my own
Our circle never changing
Yet as everything within it is
