The Beginning of an End

The Beginning of an End

A Poem by Monty.
"

the 'sequel' =]

"

"He let go of me…"

Words sparsely heard

From her bruised and bitten lips

"He never came back…"

"….I never let go. He told me

He wouldn’t let go"

With hands scabbing

Dried blood left for days

Looking up at halogen lights

Hair tangled, clothes ripped

Tears renewed in her

Beautiful, beautiful eyes

"…why won’t he come home?

He said he would…he promised me

….he promised me."

They look at her

At a loss for words

Mixed emotions or none at all

Voices blending into each

Fading slightly for her

"…ma’am we are very sorry for your loss."

All that could be said on their behalf.

No help, no sympathy

Just a phrase that’s been used so often

It has no meaning anymore.

Someone with hands worn

Guides her down a hallway

Saying things she can’t hear

Or won’t hear

"…where are you my love

..where have you gone too."

She goes back to a place

That once was a home

But is now a shell

Much like the others around

Just empty and silent

None of his laughter returns

No more kisses to take away the pain

No more love

No more holding onto what was once

The way things were

Her heart easing its constant racing

Her hands stop their shudder

Her tears dry

Nevermore
