Happy Journey

Happy Journey

A Poem by Mary Christabel George
"

As I travel from my place to my workstation. I have pen it down all the thoughts that come my way.

"

Dawn

It is my duty of every dawn.

Marching briskly to the bus stop.

To match to the pace of time.

To discover some vacant seats.

Eager  to grab a comfortable one is my motive Number one.

The bus moves

The transport mode slowly and steadily picks up the velocity.

Through Some blurred and some crystal clear windows

This is what I see…

The sun peeping effortlessly from the clouds

To awaken the city which sleeps early and gets up late.

The passer by

Like me they are also running…Children dressed in uniform.

Tiny body but heavy sacks. Tremendous responsibilities on tender shoulders.

I feel sad…

We train them to read text.

Wish…

If we could train them to be the makers of the text.

Stop

But no more feeling of regression. The bus stops as the signal falls red.

Unlike them are poor children with shabby clothes.

Begging for single penny.

To purchase not books but food.

Moving on

The bus moves on … So do I

Eyes of many captures the enticing green leaves and beautiful flowers of trees.

But I look at the barren land, withered leaves and arid branches too.

The sunshine is same but kind to one and unkind to another.

Birds

I see the birds flying high.

I too wish to touch the sky.

But its difficult to untie the chains of duties.

Nests

I see small nests of birds on trees.

I wish we too had a small world to live.

With less of glamour and more of decency.

Invading

The bus invades further.

We see some temples across the path.

People bow down and remember God.

The same also fight for seats and make a women stand.

The turn

Bus takes a turn and I find cemetery ahead.

Death Is something we are not very comfortable speaking about.

But the soil reminds me…

It is my final destination and a permanent residence.

My stop comes and I get down.

One Journey ends here and the other begins.

I hope you had a happy journey reading this.

Author's Note

Mary Christabel George
I am not exceptionally good at rhymes nor I am I good at using metaphors.
I wanted the message to be conveyed.
I have kept it very simple.
Because there are multiple messages and they complicated too.

Hi Mary!
I loved this one!

You took a bus ride and took us through all the phases of life from childhood to graves. Through you we saw all the colors of life, from nature to poverty and pain.

Good rhyming and metaphore use is but part of good poetry not the entirety. What is most important is to write from the heart and the ability to convey to the reader in all its beauty, the song playing in your mind, and it is here that you succeed. Makings of a very good writer. So keep penning.

Very good message, though the sorrow of it saddens my heart. The world is seen so differently through the eyes of each who behold. Good write, the simplicity is clear.

I have always loved metaphor as a means of conveying a message! You have a lovely imagination - something far more important for a writer than the beauty and sophistication of words! I wonder if you write short stories as well? I hope you do! :)

You've covered the entire spectrum here, from small children corpses to freedoms and duties. Very thought provoking and certainly well written. You took an everyday occurrence and made into something much more. Nicely done!

I sat here following my own paths again... saw and felt and heard the world wander by. I shared the "taste" of your morning and remembered the evening yet to come.
