The "Wedding" & "Waiting"

The "Wedding" & "Waiting"

A Poem by Mary Christabel George
"

Wedding would be any girls dream & a special moment where she looks absolutely stunning. How does it feels when the ball was in your court once & later loosing it to some alien fact.

"

WEDDING AND WAITING

It is my wedding day after all.

The most special day of my life

I have every right to be blissful

I am going to be my beloved’s wife.

I could not sleep a day before

With butterflies flying in my stomach

I shall fulfill all the responsibilities

Institution of marriage will never be a bane.

My well toned body

Shaped with elegant wedding dress

I wear twinkling earrings and bracelets

With diamonds shinning in my necklace

To each other we will owe vows

We shall exchange rings

Will be complete with a wedding kiss

Love birds will fly with wings.

Thinking of all the flowery things

I was crowned by a beautiful vale

Wearing heels on the path of red roses

Virgin walking from stairs to Church bell

But, abruptly………

The alter became void

The clergymen became ignorant

The mass turned oblivious

The carol stopped singing

The toast was raze

The Wine clashed on floor

The white flowers in my hand turned blood red

Laughing at me was the angel atrocious & wicked

My heart was beating very fast

Cheeks turned red by this slap

Soul was restless

I denied saying “This is untrue”.

I was waiting even then

I am waiting even now

I will be waiting enduringly ………?

He left me alone

For a reason unknown…………….!

This could be a story of the bride left waiting at the altar for the groom that never turned up! Very sad and heartbreaking. Well done Mary. You could embellish the page further with pics of a weeping bride, shadowed fonts etc.

Overall a good attempt! Keep writing.

Wow. I actually found a deeper meaning in this. As if the groom emotionally and spiritually vanished although those vows at the time, ran so deep.

Very deep and penetrating.

And believe me... married men can relate.

The piece leaves alot of questions. Why isn't he there? What's the backstory of the bride and couple? If it was expanded upon, this could definitely be an outstanding piece. Keep writing!

Loved the format! Beautiful poetry too...you have captured fear, excitement, uncertainty, and all other wordless emotions that a bride experiences! The culmination into heartbreak and being left at the altar is depressing, but a very real fear that most brides face! Well expressed! :)

Thanks Rashmi for understanding all the emotions which "The Wedding & Waiting" wants to convey.
I think the format is a unique twist. It helps convey the feel of each verse.
