Here "They" refers to Society.

They

They - What are you studying?

Me - I am graduating in Science.

They - When are your exams?

Me - Approaching near.

(After exams)

They - What is your result?

Me - A degree with First class?

They - First class only? Not distinction?

Me - :-(

(After results)

They - When are you getting a Job?

Me - Searching for a good Job.

(After getting a job)

They - What is your Salary?

Me - (Saying my confidential amount)

They - Why so less? I guess you did not negotiate properly during interview.

Me - Hmmmm…. May be… :-(

(There is a saying “Never ask a women her age and a man his salary”. I would say never ask a women her salary too. Because even she is working hard to improvise the economic conditions of her house)

They - I am observing you have been employed for a long time now. When are you planning to get married?

Me - I am searching a good person. As soon as I find one I will settle soon.

(After Marriage)

They - You have been married for a long time now. When are you giving us good news? When are you planning to have babies?

Me - We will let you know.

They - If you delay? It will lead to further complications. Every thing should be in a proper age.

Me - I am understanding your concern. Thank you.

( I am worried when my child will take birth. He/She will also be entangled in the vicious circle created by They. A something which I don’t want)

They never gave me birth.

They never brought me up.

They never paid for my School or College fees.

They never provided me food when I was hungry.

They never gave me Job when I was unemployed.

They never comforted me when I was left Heart broken.

They never took up any responsibility.

Then, why are we afraid of They?

Why do we allow them to govern our life?

Why do they have control on us more than ourselves?

I wish if they had not been in my Life.

In the Void of They my life will be blissful.

Wishing for a "they free" life for every one :-)

Mary! I laughed so much I cried - after reading this. Then wiped my tears and gave you a thunderous applause! It was as if you were speaking for me. Beleive me, i have had every single of those questions asked by 'THEM'. I have gone thru life fielding those stupid questions. But never gave a damn about them. Just did what I felt right.

Ask them - "Dont they have anything better to do with their time?" Time we started questioning back.

You are a powerful writer and commentator. And yes - they should not ask a woman her salary :) 100/100

I feel like anyone can relate to this. It seems like there's a constant stream of voices over your shoulder questioning your motives. This is lovely, an you convey some deep emotion. Nicely done!
