Happy New Year

Happy New Year

A Poem by Mary Christabel George

Wish you all a very Happy New year.

Happy New Year

It was late hour of the night.

The night was glittering, yet not charming.

It was not exactly unique but different for sure.

Because everyone denied sleeping, they felt more fun in staying awake.

Champagne was poured, Music was loud,

Everyone was dancing to the tunes.

It was not just noise but chaos.

I preferred closing the door & getting on to my bed.

The darker the night grew, louder the noise was outside.

And deeper the silence grew in my heart.

Sharply engraving into my skin, giving me Goosebumps

I realized I was not just alone but lonely too.

Alas! It was Twelve past one & fire crackers burst

I shivered inside the blanket, starring at my mobile

Not a single msg, not a single beep & not a single hug wishing me

Happy New Year…!

Belated New Year Mary. Well sometimes we do need our loved ones by our side but it is better be alone in absence of them then to be with people just for the sake of it.

Well said Avinash. Some time in the company of oneself is also needed. Thanks.
