Glass

Glass

A Poem by Amber

Glass

Had this dream I was swallowing glass,

As I choked and gagged,

Each breath so sharp…

Poking and prodding until each little piece reached my heart..

And from there my eyes rolled like marbles, the sky grey ahead..

I feel into some sort of coma, and was put to rest.

Later, when I woke up…No breathing, just machines beeping, as I stared at myself hooked up..

How did this all happen, this terrible dream,

I panicked and went to scream,

I bolted away from the hospital, my hair tied with a string..

Next thing I knew I walked again..

But something changed too quickly, all I heard was a crash..all around me was shards of glass…

My feet they bleed as I stumbled,

My hands were sore with each gash…

Then as I laid down, crystals fell from the clouds..

I shielded my eyes from the horror, I was broken as could be,

That’s when I finally woke up from the nightmare I was witnessing.
