Because Of You

Because Of You

A Poem by Mace
"

This poem is about my father and how he tore my family apart.

"
Is this what you want,
to burn,
to burn everything you once had,
the people who adored you,
and you just give up on them?
what if i were to tell you,
one had dreams of mouths dripping blood,
with crooked teeth,
eyes red with evil,
claws as high as the ceiling,
tearing into their throat,
because that's what you looked like to them,
because that's what you turned into?
then would you listen?
no. you wouldn't
you would laugh like you did, laugh at us like you did,
and leave all over again.
all those days of returning home,
to hiding in the darkest corner,
listening to your words hit,
hit like bombs,
listening to the little kid crying
because of you,
listening to the mother screaming,
because of you,
listening to my own heart thunder,
because of you.
No matter how hard I try to forgive you,
I cant.
Is this how you wanted your family to
remember you?
