BAB (Because Am Black)

BAB (Because Am Black)

A Poem by matthias
"

Racism: Imagine a world without colour

"
Hatred is a tree whose fruits
Segregation and racism like cankerworm
Has rotten the human society
Being black in some quarters is equated to failure

In America I'm a n****r
Italians sees a monkey in a blackman
In Russia it's orange and banana peels
Whatever that means

My mental sky was clouded with negativity
I was left with a battered ego
At fifty my father is still a boy in their eyes
They call my motherland the third world

And theme my way of life fetish
When I’m not watchful
They cart away the mask of my idol
Stole the gods of my ancestors

I’m being called barbaric
'Cause I choose to be me
God knows my black mind
Never initiated Slave trade

Beneath the watchful eyes of the sun
They shamed my sisters
What become of my father
Is unknown to mother

Nor could I say of the fate that befalls my brother
His carcass was seen hung on a tree
In a forest covered by fog
Still they call me a savage

As a child I wasn't spared
They stripe me of my goal
Like a candy, chaos and gaol
Were put in-between

Alas
They say the black man is always at war
But how,when and why
Are the bugging questions on my lips

In my heart I’m humane
Than all white clergy
But I’m the one that is being called cannibal
Because am black
