Regrets

Regrets

A Poem by Max Rwizi, Jr.

Hey my love.
Give me a chance to pour you a glass
of an apology.
I failed to distinguish what was gold-plated
from what was actually gold.
I thought having other options would make me look cooler but, all it ever did was
make me look cold.
I didn't bother to see if you were smiling
as long as your body made my ego smile.
All my boys were doing it so, I didn't
want to be left behind but, instead I left
you behind.
You might have broke up with me but,
I broke you because you trusted me with your heart but I dissembled the pieces and sold them to the highest bidder.
I can't even look through the windows of your soul because of the hideous
crack I left.
Being committed was a foreign land
and I just could not afford the Visa.
All I cared about was the reputation that preceded me but now I'm just like all your
lovers that preceded me.
