Black Wolf

Black Wolf

A Poem by mallory
"

Inspired by grief

"
Have you seen the Black Wolf?
It's prey knows it pounces
consumes
destroys

Its gnashing teeth are lethal
The cuts are deep
Blood sprays onto bystanders
Appearing as victims instead

There's no clear pattern
Sometimes it starts as a growl
Then progresses to a maul
Or attacks with no warning at all

Your gashes heal but never completely
20 years from now there will be a stinging
Survivors live with paranoia
Of the Black Wolf lingering
