![]() You? Again?A Chapter by Denisa Matei
Ever since he appeared, the only thing we've done was to look at each other. That's it! We looked at each other without saying just a single word; we looked at each other without caring that someone could enter the room; we looked at each other like we were alone and no one could see us.
I hoped he will say something, or at least smile. All I wanted to know was if he was sad or happy that he's out of that book. All I wanted was just a sign, a sign which will show me what he feels. Even if he just moved his beautiful blue eyes, I'd be happy. But nothing! He just stood there motionless like a statue. I could just see his chest moving slowly. "You? Again? What are you doing here!" said a voice from behind me. I turned around and he was there. How did this happen? I mean, a few seconds ago, I looked at him and he was there, behind me, but I think he changed his place when I blinked. His blue eyes that fascinated me earlier, were now really scary. They were as red as the blood. Then, he smirked and that's how I could see one of his fangs. "What are you doing here?" he asked again, making me jump a little. "I..I don't know what are you talking about! This is my room!" I said letting a few tears fall on my scared face. "You don't know what am I talking about? You destroyed my life, you cheated and know you act like you don't even know w me!" "I think you're talking about someone else because I never did something like that!" "Lier! You made me suffer and now, because of you, I'm a monster! And I will get my revenge!" As soon as he finished speaking these words, I felt the smell of smoke. I looked around me. The curtains and the bed sheets were burning. The chandelier started to shake heavily and then fell down and broke into tiny pieces. Suddenly, a few objects from the room started to fly. Some of the swords which served as decorations for the wall began to float around me, creating a perfect circle. I couldn't get out of there! "Miss, are you okay? I heard screaming and I was scared!" the owner's voice said from outside. "Yeah I'm fine! Don't worry!" Only now, after I heard her voice, I realized how scared I was. I touched my face and it was full of sweat, probably because of the heat in the room. I never even realized that I screamed. It was too much for me! Now I feel guilty because I didn't listen when the librarian told me, not to read the spell. But because I'm stubborn, I did what I wanted. "I hope you enjoyed this little demonstration of my power!" I suddenly heard the vampire's voice, voice that seemed to come from my head. He can control my mind and my thoughts. "Get out! Get out!" I answered in my mind." Leave me alone! " "Miss, I'm coming in!" the owner said. At that moment, I saw how the door handle moved and how the door opened. The women and her daughter stood there shocked, looking at me and then at the destroyed room. "What happened here?" she asked looking at me with hatred. I looked down ashamed. I could not say anything, or better I didn't know what to say. She needed explanations and I couldn't give them. I mean, who would believe me if I say that with a spell, I let the soul of a vampire out of a book, and that vampire destroyed the room just because I looked like someone from his past. It's impossible! "You see, I..I don't know..." "You don't know what? If you're not going to give me a good answer then please take your luggage and leave." "B..but ..! "No buts! Take your bag and go! And by the way, give me your money because I need them if I want to fix this room." I looked into her eyes, hoping that she will be more compassionate. But nothing! Her eyes were as cold as the ice from the North Pole. I approached the nightstand next to the bed and I took my wallet. I gave it to her. "These are my money!" I said and then she left the room. Immediately after she left, I began to put my clothes into the luggage. I put the book there too, because I wanted to know why that boy hates me so much. I wanted to discover his secrets and problems. I wanted to melt his heart. I wanted to help him because I felt that deep down, in his soul, he is a wonderful person. I took my in bad and I went to the door. I looked at the room for the last time. I saw the clock on the wall which showed that it was 7 pm. This meant that I would spend a night on the streets because I did not have money. I left without looking back, I left, leaving behind a woman who looked at me with hatred and an innocent girl who just listened to her mother.
