You sit and cry to me

Till the moon is up and gone

Tell me they took your love

And buried him six feet under

How could this happen to you

You’re just a baby

Hiding beneath the sheets

Longing for protection

Remembering nights of fire works

And promises of forever

Rocking chair old and crumbled

Across the dirt of farewell

Lies the ashes of your heart

While he’s gone away

“It ends tonight”

You are my Romeo

But I’m to scared to be your Juliet

I don’t deserve eternity with you

You died to protect

And I shall live forever

In your shadow

In your memory

Alone forever”

Stunning!!! A beautifully portrayed stigma of unworthiness at the death of a loved one. So often people feel they have no right to expect eternity for one reason or another and this is a well-known, yet hidden fact. Your prose is well-placed without obscurity. I loved this and can identify as so many will.
Kudos...
Helen :-)
