A Mother's Promise

A Mother's Promise

A Poem by Meagan
"

A poem I wrote right after my daughter was born.

"

To Chloe`
I can't promise you the moon
Nor can I promise you the stars,
I can't promise that your life will go easy
I can't promise the world will be yours.

I can't promise you great wealth
Or your fifteen minutes of fame,
I can't promise you a life of excitment
Or a life free of pain.

There are things though
I can promise you,
A loving home a caring heart
And someone you can always turn to.

I will teach you to love
And teach you how to pray,
I will teach you to appreciate your life
No matter what comes your way.

I can teach you great things
That amount to much more,
Than the things I could buy you
That won't fit through heaven's door.
