Remember How

Remember How

A Poem by Meaghan

Remember How:

Just remember how

He told you everything would be okay

Remember how

He said he’d come back one day

Remember how

He said you’re his best friend

Remember how

He’d be there until the end

Don’t be so quick

To get upset with what he does

Don’t feel so sick

When he’s with her, because

Remember how

He kissed the top of your head

Remember how

He stayed with you instead

Remember how

He wanted to lie in your bed

Remember how

What you have is true

Remember how

He said he loves you

Don’t forget

That you’re the only one he kept around

And don’t forget

The truths that you’ve found

Hidden in his bed sheets

Underneath the covers

Even though you don’t treat

Each other like your lovers

Don’t forget

The moments you spent looking in his eyes

Don’t forget

How much he really tries

Don’t doubt him much

Though he’s one to improvise

Don’t forget the heat of his touch

Just within your thighs

Remember how

You’re his best friend

Remember how

You’ll be there until the end.
